Jeromy and I went to Ely last week while Ashley stayed home and watched the kids. These are shots I found on our camera the next day. I never did see the elephant on the sidewalk, I think it must have rained that night. Anyway, as we were leaving Jackson pulled a butterfly from a mud puddle and set it on a plant to dry, but I don't think he was able to let it just be. So Ashley told me she took a couple of shots of him but I didn't notice until tonight that there was a few extra.
We finally got out fishing on our boat yesterday. I haden't picked up the tabs until about a week ago. Funny thing was I went to put them on the boat when it was laying in the yard upside down. Jeromy told me that the tabs weren't on yet because the tabs said they expired 2006. Oop, my bad. I realized that I must have put one on upside down because I put it on and it should've said it expires 2009. Jeromy said he was going to be embarrassed when the other fisherman see us on the lake. Oh well.
We took the little ones to Bear Island lake yesterday and didn't have any bites. Then we took Ash to youth group and fished with the little ones from the access on Miner's. Jackson and Jeromy caught five sunfish while I chased Charly back and forth. She couldn't sit still. Then we came home and Ashley and Jeromy fished the last couple of hours of daylight on Birch. Ashley caught a pretty nice walleye, and Jeromy got a cute little one too. Then Ash jumped in the lake for a quick swim. They had a good time.
This morning the little ones and I took Ashley to bball daycamp and again, we went to Miner's. Lost two hooks and I walked in the lake to save a bobber and decided we were done. Came home and then I took the kids to the other public access on Birch and tried to catch a fish, but nothing. Maybe another day. They were good sports about it and were a little bummed when I said it was time to go home. Anyway, here are a bunch of pics from the last two days.
"And now I can put my pretty long hair back on." Ugh, I don't think so. I explained to her how she couldn't put her hair back on, but at least it would grow back. Told both kids VERY FIRMLY how we do not cut people's hair. Then I left Jeromy a voice mail to pick up some more baby safety locks for two drawers in the kitchen so all sharp objects will be locked up again.
I was away from the kids for about 5 MINUTES, just 5 minutes talking to Jeromy as they were playing in their room. I told him, I better go see what's going on because it is completely silent up there. He agreed, because the last two days have been quite eventful with my evil little children.
They have managed to slightly torture the cats. The other day I heard them giggling and close the basement door as they are yelling, "don't let her through, don't let her go!" I open the door to see Cally, the fat cat, covered with about 2 cups of baby lotion scramming downstairs to hide from the kids. I go downstairs to chase after the cat to wipe up the lotion before she starts licking it off hoping to eliminate any animal puke, and see my cat sopping wet, and a water bottle they had full of water at one point laying on the ground without one single drop in it. He is so old, and he was so cold from that. Jackson and Charly are totally looking at me like, what did we do? We are perfect little angels. Another family meeting on how to treat animals. Well, Charly didn't take that too seriously because the very next day she shoved my cat into the kitchen cupboard and poured a whole bottle of bath salts all over him. I heard him meowing like he was scared and I couldn't find him until jackson came into the room to tattle on Charly. There must be something in the air, because honestly, they have been running aorund outside, having projects, and doing the best to keep them structured between errands.
So I come upstairs after hanging up with Jeromy and see Jackson in the kitchen with his shitty innocent smile saying hi to me. I asked why it was so quiet and what were they doing, he said, "Just playing in our room." I walk towards the room and Charly comes into the hallway wearing her necklace and three headbands smiling at me like she always does after she fixes her hair or plays dressup like she's showing me how pretty she looks. I asked her, "Very nice Charly did you put three headbands on? It looks nice like that." she responded "Jacky did." And I was lifting her headbands off because it looked like she had her hair clumped up, and then I realize, it's not clumped! It's chopped!! She's smiling still, "Jacky cut my hair!" Lord, give me strength! Here are the shots.
We ended up getting squeezed in at a salon in Ely when we picked up Ashley today. The kids walked in with me and the ladies saw for themselves this was an emergency.
I was tempted to put lipstick on one side of Charly's mouth, then a mustache on the other side of her face because she reminded me of those freakshow people they used to have circus' or carnivals when they are a boy on one side and a girl on the other. When you read this one day, you know I love you baby!
Another storm hit last Wednesday and wiped out our DSL. We were up and running again today. The phone company is going to be doing more work in the near future to hopefully eliminate the problem we keep having.
Anyway, Ashley went to her dad's for a little over a week. I brought her to Cloquet on Saturday and then Charly and I went to the mall in Duluth. Charly loves Claire's now. I've created a monster. She bought her first bottle of nail polish and polished her toes for the first time by herself when we got home. Claire's has a huge selection of clip-on earrings. Charly picked the biggest hoops she could find, and then we went to Target. The pink cowboy boots I've been eyeing for her for the past year were finally on clearance, and a size larger than she wears. See the pics.
Sunday we spent the day in the lake at auntie Laurie's. The kids had fun with their new floaty toys, playing with Laurie's dog, and catching baby fish with a butterfly net from a school of walleyes that were smaller than minnows. And Jackson got to fish again! He's gone about four times this last week but acts as if he never gets to go. When I told him that we were heading to laurie's house to go swimming after I got home from work, he said, "Do ya think the crawdads are biting?" Last year he was fishing from the dock and crayfish kept crabbing his hook. He remembered that! He didn't catch any crawdads, but managed to catch a bass.
Charly had to go potty and didn't squat back enough and had a little accident on her shorts. So she had to run around in her underwear for a little bit.
I think she planned it that way hehe. She loves to go potty outside, and honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a little girl her age do that, and so well. Another phase she's going through. She's been trying to go just about anywhere outside, and when allowed, she tells me, "I just love to go pee outside."
This is our little lilac bush in the front yard. It blooms after the other lilacs are done. Jeromy was sitting in the livingroom the other morning waiting for his morning pot of coffee to brew, when he saw a small doe trot into our yard and head over to the deer feeder to see there was nothing there but a salt block, so she trotted over to this lilac bush and had a good treat as she chomped on some blossoms.
Remeber that song that Chris Farley did in the movie Tommy boy? I think that was the movie, so funny.
I gave Charly some of the clothes I wore as a baby. I really have to break through from my pack-ratting tendencies, things are just things. So, I gave them to Charly to dress soem of ther dolls with. I walked into the room to see how her snack time was going and find her wearing them. So funny. She stretched them as far as she could. She is so funny.
Our floor is really not dirty here, just our crappy floor, the previous owners of the house painted the lenolium. Ish. I can't wait until we get our kitchen floor done. You can see our table on stilts as well. The table had to be raised to fit our kitchen chairs! Kind of redneck, but will be better once I strip and refinish the kitchen table.
It seems I'm flooding the blog with pics of Charly so much lately but I had to get these on. She has entered that 3yr goofy girl stage and cracks us up so much. Constantly learing and trying things on her own. Like this shot. She's mastered writing with a pen using hands so she might as well start with the toes too. Again, another thing she was just doing as we walk into the room. Hhmmm, the circus comes to mind again.
Another shot I found on the camera, thanks Jack. The kids were waiting in the car for me as I ran into the greenhouse for flowers. Nice face Ashley. GRUMP!! I know, I took too long and you kids were waiting sooooo long. Lol!
Missing you and hope you are having fun with your sisters at your dad's.
And then there's Jessica, or should I say where's Jessica. It is so weird not having her home. We have not moved rooms yet but are working on it. It is just so weird though. The little ones and I are hoping to catch her at home today for some hugs. Hope she is okay. We've seen her about half a dozen times since she has moved but sometime's, it's just not good enough. So many mixed feelings for me though. She is still a child trying to figure things out, and I have to let her, but will try my hardest to make sure if she falls, I can catch her. Little terd, I love you.
Jackson has a new pet. He has a toad that he named Goopy. We got one of our critter aquariums from past pets and put grass and dirt in there. Jackson had him in a bucket with holes poked through it for most of the day, so I'm sure the aquarium is a little better. Tonight we chopped up little pieces of fruits and vegetables hoping he might like to eat it.
Jackson and Jeromy went to the fishing pier last night to see what they could catch. Jeromy caught this northern and that was it for bites the rest of the night.
Jeromy went out by himself this morning at dawn and came home with five bluegills.
Once the rain had stopped we packed the kids up and went to a little lake we never fished before near our deer hunting stands. Jackson had the luck, he caught a small perch, and a large mouth bass.
It was neat to treck around another area near our home. We saw a lot of beautiful wild flowers too. Right before we started to fish, we saw a deer across the bay walking the shoreline with a small fawn. That was really cool. The mom walked into the woods and the little fawn walked into the water up to it's head and swam around for a minute or two and then went into the woods as well. It was so neat to show the kids that.
Immediately after this shot, Jeromy slowly bent over and grabbed the turtle's tail and lifted her up. Of course the kids and I freaked out thinking it would snap, and Jeromy seemed kind of nervous as he did it as well, but she was so docile that she must have been getting ready to lay her eggs. Jeromy said that she had dug a hole about 6-12 inches deep and had one leg down in the sand.
